I sporadically scrape the website H-Net to watch the state of the academic job market in history. Job ads from H-Net tend to be basically the same as those from the AHAs own job board, and are easy enough to use.

Some general principals for understanding this:

  1. Things were better in the 2000s. The financial crisis permanently changed the market for history jobs.

  2. The period from 2010-2013 was better than what followed.
