Memorial Essays

Memorial Essays:

  1. Know what yours is by Wednesday; we'll talk about them in class.

Memorial Essays: Some guidelines (more details in the online description.)

  1. Must be PDF. No Word.
  2. You must argue for something; if you don't believe the thing you're arguing, you're probably doing it wrong.
  3. Controversial does not necessarily mean provocative, and certainly doesn't mean offensive. It does mean you must identify and respond to counterarguments.
  4. Location is almost as important as subject.
  5. You are not just stating your opinion; you are trying to persuade others.
  6. All citations are not equal; they provide authority. Random websites are not better than nothing.
